   In May, 2008 the world officially marked 135-th birthday of the most popular trousers — jeans. However, date is rather conditional. Officially birthday of jeans considers on May, 20th, 1873 – the day when Levi Strauss, the founder of brand Levi's, had received the patent for the invention. Now one can buy jeans made of different fabric, which obviously existed much earlier. The first ‘brand’ jeans were sewed in 1850, for the first time they went on sale in 1853, and finally in 1873 they have been patented. Now we are talking about straight leg jeans.
